Yosemite National Park.
Yosemite National Park is located in the central Sierra Nevada of California. It is renown for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves and biological diversity. Glaciers gouged out hundreds of high country lakes. In the springtime minor tributaries collect melting snow and speed it downhill in tendril of icy water, creating seasonal cascades and ephemeral falls. The park consists of 750,000 acres and offers 800 miles of hiking trails. Yosemite National Park is mostly wilderness, accessible only on foot. The biggest attraction, would have to be Yosemite's famous Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, a stand of some 500 giant sequoias. Some of these trees are 2,000 years old. The Grizzly Giant is renown for its hugh girth and gnarled grandeur. The famous Wawona Tunnel Tree stood here, until it was toppled under a heavy snowfall in 1969.
