Kakadu National Park

Kakadu is an exciting combination of towering escarpment, waterfalls, wetlands, wildlife and stunning scenery. The most comfortable time to visit is during the dry seasons (may to September). The Aboriginal people have lived in this land, for 50,000 years, and their rock paintings are an important part of the park. There is an extraordinary array of wildlife. The most ancient of these, the salt-water crocodile, are now common in the park. They have increase in numbers since the establishment of a protection order. Tourists have been attacked by salt-water crocodiles, so swimming is restricted to a few fresh water creeks and waterholes in the south of the park. Its much safer, not to swim at all. This park is a most spectacular and powerful place.
