Watarrka National Park

The main highlight of this park is Kings Canyon, thought to be a geological and biological wonder in the desert. Most park hikers see only the main formation, there is much more spectacular scenery for the wilderness hiker.

Giles Track Walk

Distance : 22kms

Location : South/West of Alice Springs

The starting point is Kings Canyon and you follow the George Gill Range south/east to Kathleen Gorge. Wilderness scenery all the way. There is camping at Kings Canyon, but only bush camping on route. You must be self-sufficient. Water is necessary for the entire trip and warm clothing, as the nights can be very cold. The trail is well marked.
