The Grampians mark the end of the Great Dividing Range, which runs nearly the full length of eastern Australia. It is located approx. 270km from Melbourne.(The Capital of Victoria) Hikers are well catered for, with hundreds of kilometres of trails and plenty of campsites, with fresh water available. The vegetation consists of over 1000 flowering plants. In total, approximately third of Victoria's flora species. The wildlife include all the common native mammals. Koalas, wallabies and a great range of birdlife. The unusual geological formation, great variations in alitude and westerly position of the Grampians, account for the huge variety of scenic interest. There are many campgrounds in the park, mostly accessible by car. Camping incurs a small fee, and a permit is necessary, which is available from The National Parks Visitors Centre. Mt. Difficult Track Distance : 24Km Location : The western half of the National Park. The starting point is Troopers Creek campground. Then onto Roses Cap via Mt Difficult (808m) and Briggs Bluff (620m).
