Croajingolong National Park (Gippsland Area)
The Gippsland area is mainland Australias most southerly point. A magnificent coastline of unspoilt beaches and headlands. Summers can be hot, and winter cold and wet. Tall gum forest cover the interior of the park, with pockets of subtropical rainforests. The coastal plains are covered in heathland plants that colour the landscape with colour, when in bloom. Water dragon lizards live in the freshwater streams. Beautiful sea eagles can be seen, soaring over the coastline, and penquins might be caught resting on the remote beaches. Wilderness Coast Walk Distance : 41km Location : South Eastern Coast of Victoria This trail starts at Wingan Inlet and follows the coast line to the north/east. It has a great variety of scenery, with a large part of the trail passing through the Sandpatch Wilderness Area. There is a car/camping area at Wingan Inlet, with the usual facilities.
