Nambung National Park
This National Park is north of Perth (WA Capital) and has some of the most amazing natural features. The Pinnacles at Nambung and the stromatolites at Hamelin Bay. This area is also home to the famous Monkey Mia, where the wild dolphins swim with the tourists. The coastline is spectacular, with many peaceful beachs and a intriguing dune system. It is home to many shipwrecks. Camping can be cool on winter nights, be prepared for frost. There is a small bush camp site with limited facilities within the park. Most of the wildlife in Numbung is nocturnal, (as is most wildlife in Australia.) Over 100 species of birds, Emus, Western grey kangaroos and many species of snake and lizard- stumpy tail and dragon lizards are often seen. The Pinnacles Circuit Distance : 6km Location : Nambung National Park. North of Perth The walk starts at the Pinnacles car park and heads through the Pinnacles Desert and Saddle Hill. There are various types of pinnacles, from thin sharp ones to short, stumpy ones. Its as if you are in a cave, but can see the sky. The top of Saddle Hill gives you a view over the entire landscape.
