Cape Arid National Park

This National Park is on the south-east coast of Western Australia. Best known for its beautiful beaches and crystal seascapes, the park is a remote location. The vegetation of the park has evolved from the need for the flora to conserve water. The wild life of the area, include bush wallabies and the usual array of nocturnal mammals. The only Australia goose, the Cape Barren, lives in this area. By the 1960's it was almost extinct, but is now well established.

Camping in the Park, is at several areas on the coastline, at Seal Creek, Jorndee Creek and Thomas River. These sites have basic facilities. The Mount Ragged camp site is in the centre of the park and is only accessible by 4W drive. Fuel stoves are necessary, and hikers should bring plenty of water.
