Mt Washburn and Sevenmile Hole
Distance :16.5miles Location : Yellowstone National Park - Wyoming See the information on Yellowstone National Park, on the previous hike...Heart Lake Hike. This hike starts in Dunraven Pass, then travels to the summit of Mt. Washburn (10,243 feet). The public observation tower has a telescope, giving majestic views across the Yellowstone Basin. The trail then travels down the spur trail to the side trip junction of Sevenmile Hole . Take the trail to Sevenmile Hole, through the old Douglas Firs, past the 10 foot geyser cone, and continue on past the bubbling pools and small geysers to the campsite right beside the Yellowstone River. Once back on the main trail you find yourself along the northern rim of the 1300 foot Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. The views become spectacular as you continue past the Silvercord Cascade and finally finishing at the Canyon National Park Office and campground. Warning...Grizzlies are very active in the Mt. Washburn area. Never leave unattended food, within reach of bears. Be aware of them always. | |||
